I hope most of you have heard the achingly beautiful song, "Say Something" by Christina Aguilera and A Great Big World. It's a gorgeous song with a haunting melody that demands your heart's attention.
Traveling in the car recently, Aubrie and I had the pleasure of hearing it several times. Each time, we'd stop our conversation and become entranced in the song.
I looked over to find Aubrie in tears. "That's a song a parent could sing to their child with autism," she sobbed.
The lyrics fit with a parent's love and desperation... "Say something, I'm giving up on you. I'm sorry that I couldn't get to you. Anywhere I would've followed you. Say something, I'm giving up on you... And I am feeling so small. It was over my head. I know nothing at all..."
Sometime, parents feel like giving up. They feel defeated. They feel inadequate. They feel lost. But extraordinary love keeps them going...
